A quality of life consultation helps us focus on your pet’s comfort, happiness, and daily well-being, while supporting you in making thoughtful decisions with compassion and care.
A quality of life consultation is a dedicated appointment focused on understanding your pet’s overall comfort, happiness, and daily well-being. Rather than concentrating only on medical conditions or test results, these visits are designed to look at the bigger picture of your pet’s life—how they are eating, sleeping, moving, and enjoying the activities and relationships that matter most to them.
We have much experience in dealing with aging and or terminally sick pets and can advise you on that often so difficult questions “is it time?”, “when is it time?”, “how will I know?.” We will work through these difficult questions with you with compassion, listening and practical advice. We will be there for you and your pet as time goes on and clinical conditions change or progress.
During the consultation, we will talk with you about the changes you’ve noticed at home and the experiences your pet is having each day. A most important part of the consultation is hearing your perspective as the person who knows your pet best.
The purpose of a quality of life consultation is not to rush decisions, but to provide a safe and supportive space to explore your pet’s current needs and possible next steps. Together, we will discuss options that may include adjusting treatment or medications, adding supportive care, or thoughtfully preparing for end-of-life decisions when the time feels right.
Above all, our goal is to honor the bond you share with your pet and to help ensure that their days are as comfortable and meaningful as possible. These consultations are grounded in compassion, honesty, and respect—for your pet’s dignity, and for the love you carry for them.
